Personal Branding – Is it essential for your Success??

Believe it or not, it’s an established fact that personal branding is important for a number of reasons.

Personal branding provides a clear focus for your personal development all the while launching yourself as a thought leader.

It works wonders for career success. You may not believe me today, but you may realise it at a later date. I just hope it is not too late for you by then.

The relationship between career success and personal branding is truly unique and has the potential to launch a person to new heights. Here is how personal branding can help you with your career progression:


It’s something of a no-brainer, but there is a clear correlation between success and branding. Take for example Coca-Cola or Pepsi and any xyz cola that you get at your local shop. Why is it that you buy Coke or Pepsi and not the local cola? Is it not because of the brand?

Creating a strong brand establishes yourself as a natural leader. It makes people look up to you as a firm thought leader. This opens doors and creates unique opportunities that would otherwise remain in the dark.

This helps you achieve success and pushes yourself to take a stronger stance on how you handle yourself and others. As success and branding interact with one another your leadership qualities naturally evolve, guiding your career into exciting new directions.


As your brand improves and you start achieving success, your standards for almost everything increase.

I agree, to a certain degree that establishing yourself without credentials is quite difficult —no matter what you want to do, a degree in something is required (That is true in most cases, but not all). However, there’s one problem with this—everyone looking to establish themselves and achieve success has almost the same degree (take for example the Lakhs of engineers that pass out of engineering colleges every year).

It’s unfortunate, but there’s nothing unique about an MBA when looking for a decent job in a decent organisation.

That’s where personal branding comes in. As Daniel Bliley of the parking app Passport says: “Branding today is as much about consistently delivering on your promise as it is about differentiation. You have to position yourself in unique ways in order to stand out from others. You have to meet all of the subconscious expectations and go beyond the mundane to truly impress.”

Everyone has a degree that is almost similar to yours, but do you have a distinct personality? A personal and professional brand that immediately stands out? An ability, that you have highlighted in your profiles, to enhance a company’s culture?

If you have branded yourself well, suddenly, you will be looking a lot better than a lot of people, whatever the situation may be.
